I just ordered one, so if you wait for 2 weeks I'll let you know. I think it will be a nice difference though, I know from experience that my desktop sound card made a huge difference.

What are you listening thru now? if you are listening thru 2 small little speakers like me probably not much, if you have 7.1 then yea even the ability to play that in the first place big deal.

im using the loigtech x-230's and they sound fine. When I use the sennhessier headphones, the bass is weak and the music could be a tiny bit clearer. When I listen to the same music on my desktop, with the same headphones, it sounds a little better. Since I'm going to be living in the dorms I'll probably have to use my headphones sometimes, so I want the music to sound good.

It would help I think. It does put out a better signal and your headphones can take advantage. And next you can by 7.1 and really rock!

I got confused when I clicked the link and saw a desktop card but then read the description hehe...

But anyways, I'm pretty sure your XFi will definitely produce better sound - however this is ONLY if you are hooking external speakers / headphones via the ExpressCard - which i believe sticks out quite a bit actually.

I have the X-Fi in my desktop and boy does it make quite a difference in the sound quality vs integrated - and I can only imagine that with a laptop the difference will be even more noticeable.

Just as a FYI it is imperative to select what your speaker configuration is when you use it - for example when I use my Headphones I set the Speaker Configuration to Headphones and it changes the sounds so I feel as if I'm not wearing any headphones and the sound is coming from right in front of me. The modes also are important too. Just remember! Crystallizer, SVM, Modes, CMSS3D
