what is the name of the keyboards that have the different placement of the keys...it was developed to for the quickest typing speed.

Well, that thing, if i have a regular laptop keyboard, is it possible to change it to the advanced key placing, or should i buy an external keyboard?

    Any suggestions?

oh, and how good do you believe these are?

    Thanks,
    DAn.

If you have Windows XP, you can go to Control Panel - Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options - Regional and Language Options. Then, go to the Languages tab and click on Details. Next to the Installed Services list, click on Add. Under "Keyboard layout/IME", you can select "United States-Dvorak". When you switch to the Dvorak layout, your keyboard will now behave like a Dvorak keyboard, with the letters arranged in a different manner.

To learn more, you can read a Wikipedia article on the Dvorak Simplified Keyboard. The article comes with numerous links to web sites about the Dvorak layout.
