Hi,
what bags or backpacks do you recommend when you want to have something stylish, but still useful ?
So that it provides enough spaces for school work but is not looking to big and ugly... something probably for a 14" or 15" laptop...
any suggestions???
backpack is probably more appreciated, but I'd also like to know about some messenger bags as well
thx

Tom Bihn, Booq and Swiss Gear all make stylish bags / backpacks. Consider the Swiss Gear Synergy backpack. A good messenger bag to consider is the Samsonite L45.

These are not cheap, but check out the Tumi T-Tech...

Instead of Swiss Gear by Wenger, take a look at Victorinox, the real Swiss Army brand, much better quality...

Here is mine...but I'm a girl...don't know if you are or not
Anyways...I posted this in this forum, a little ways back...
This is the Maddie Power's Cutebug Laptop Messenger Bag, and this messenger bag is fantabu, and just awesome...
And, of course...very *stylish*.
I always get positive compliments on it, and it fits my XPS 1530 perfectly with plenty of room for the "extras".

Swiss Gear by Wenger is pretty popular, I carry one too. It's great for long distance travel. I went on a business trip to Asia with the backpack and it was comfortable while walking around the airport, etc. By the way, it seems like a lot of folks use this backpack... so if you want to be unique, this might not be the bag you want. LOL. The style isn't all that fancy (grey, black with red emblems/stripes), and it's a big on the bulky side. The cool thing is that it seems to have infinite pockets... and BIG pockets too. This can be a positive but could also be annoying to keep up with so many pockets when you need something. For certain, you can shove more books than you really WANT to be carrying around inside. Even if you do carry more stuff than the military folks in combat, the shoulder pads are really plush and comfortable. The customer service on their website for the traveling bag is not listed, but shoot them an email if you ever have a problem with this backpack and I'm pretty sure they will reply back quickly as they did for me (surprisingly great service).

I have a nice targus messenger bag I use. I carries my 17" HP, clipboard, all my tools for testing for water, moisture etc for my job, etc. and it looks great.

I think this bag is pretty cool:

Looks like a messanger bag, but wears like a backpack. -
Booq bags, Tumi, and Acme Made are the only choices as far as Im concerned for stylish bags.
Ive got the Booq Mamba Saddle and its great.

well thanks for the responses people... I went through all of them but I still didn't find something that would fit my needs, at least it seems so when I see the pictures...
what I am kind of looking for is something that doesn't look so big and bulky...
I mean I bought a 14" laptop in order to not have to carry anything huge around... not like a backpack that is twice as thick as your body and covers your whole bag... if you need to get your whole office with you, ok... but If you just wanna carry your laptop around with style and comfort I didn't really find anything...
Now I have a Burton bag, it has basically 2 separate chambers... so that is pretty fine and it doesn't look so bad, but it covers your whole back, it goes like from your neck all the way down to your rear =]
I don't know if I clarified enough what I am looking for, but all these really big, bulky and thick bags kind of really irritate me... -
If all those bags above are not what you're looking for, then I don't think any bag from notebook bags maker will satisfy you. I think you'll have to look at some fashion brand name bags, some of them do have a notebook compartment.
For example, these 2 by Hugo Boss, but I'm not sure which one of these has a notebook compartment though:

Or maybe this one by Diesel:

This one by Kenneth Cole, it is a computer bag:

I would recommend a Tumi. I carry an older version of the one I have a provided a link to. Its well worth the price, I have had mine for over 7 years now and it does not show any signs of wear. Its fairly small but can be expanded when you want to carry more than just a laptop. If you decide that you like a different Tumi bag just make sure that its their signature ballistic nylon their other newer materials will not last as long.

If the Tumi bag is not stylish enough for you. You could go LV but its kind of nasty looking. It will hold up almost as well as the Tumi bag but its much more expensive.

Too bad I can't afford them! -
some of the bags are very interesting...
now I found this one: and it seems to be pretty nice in the black/light grey color
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=399512
what do you think? I didn't really find any reviews for it or any better pictures...
does anyone have this one and what do you think ? it seems to be a little bit too solid as well though... I gues I just need a usual backpack and put the laptop in... like for example the Burton I have... what a pity it is not just a little bit shorter though... -
That Belkin Slim backpack looks pretty good, I'm in favor of any bags with extra shoulder padding. They have different color options too. Might have to take a close look at it myself.
-
mine is a Hackers Dream!!
Targus Matrix Backpack....top of the line from Targus...
can fit 3 laptops -
i use that. it can hold my thinkpad and notebooks. and it doesnt look bad. thats all i need really. -
Steggy what is the brand/model of that bag?
-
I bought this one by Mobile Edge. They have some pretty slick designs ( other). I'm obviously not sure if this is what you were looking for, but it was what I was looking for and nobody had posted it yet.
It's out for delivery right now, if you're curious about it I can take some pictures tonight... unfortunately I don't have anything to put in it yet. -
I found a burton bag that is pretty cool, it holds a 15" laptop, and has burton's iPod integration. It is a little on the big side, but it looks tight.

Cant believe nobody mentioned Vaja. Ahh well they're really only for messengers but check 'em out. Expensive (like re-mortgage your liver expensive) but what the hell.

Going with Zegari's Barcelona messenger myself when I get the courage up(unless anyone has other stiff shell leather messenger suggestions). $325 messenger bought sight unseen + VAT + Customs. I'll be drunk when I order, guaranteed. And dead when the credit card bill comes in. -
