i have recently lost all internet access here. im also going on a 2 month trip , and i hate depeding on hotel internet access. so i have some questions about the connect cards.

    1) how much is it per month?
    2) how fast is it?
    3) is thier a contract invovled?
    4) can i just pop it in my m15x express card thingy?
    5) how would i connect other external devices (ps3, ds, iphone) to the connection?
    6) where can i use it?

as long as your ps3, ds, and iphone support wifi, you should be able to use your 802.11 wifi in your laptop to share your internet connection (it will be available because you will connect to the internet via expresscard or usb or whatever, not wifi)

    probably not that fast.

    1. $60 per month "unlimited" 5gb limit. ATT is not billing for overage yet :) But they may have this as gauge for abusers and such
    2. I have clocked 1.5mb/sec averaging over 700kb/s
    3. yes, contract involved similar to cell coverage (1 or 2 yr)
    4. you can upgrade internal WWAN Dell att card or use express card
    5. Internet connection sharing should work, never tried
    6. depending on the card, quad band gsm (slow) and/or 3g bands, some will work in USA/Canada only, and some may work globally. 3g is the tricky one, very few cards support tri band 3g. International data rates are very expensive
    7. reliability depends on network coverage, att has very good coverage but all bets are off in rural areas :)
