got a cryo LX myself. Pretty decent piece of kit, albeit it pricey. Just make sure that the vents on the underside of your laptop align with the fans on the LX. Otherwise it might be a better option to consider the Antec/Coolermaster/Zalman alternatives.

The fans on the Cryo LX can be safely overvolted to 12v max via an AC wall adapter (done it myself). Just dont use the USB to USB connection in conjunction with it or you will fry the circuit board (i found out the hard way!).

I've also swapped out the 3 stock fans with 3x 1600rpm Scythe S-Flex fans and the CFM difference is quite noticeable when you place your hand on top of the cooler.

Get the Antec 200 from newegg. It is 16.8" x 11.6" x 2.6", so it's not as thick (4.1''). The 18.4'' is referring to the screen size and not the actual size of the laptop. I have a 17'' laptop but its only 16.4'' long.

Right now I'm choosing between the Antec 200 and the Cryo LX, they are both kinda expensive. I've noticed that the Antec 200 blows air into the laptop instead of sucking heat out by blowing air away from the laptop. Which do you think is better? Blowing into the laptop or out? The one I currently have blows air out, and it works pretty well.

Good post. I am curious about this too. I am also planning on buying a cooler for my xps16 and so far Im very close to the Zalman (thnx texas for the review.) I want something to not only superficially cool the laptop, but also cool the chips and stuff inside to that the laptop can stay healthy for years even with heavy use.

yeah I think I'm going with Cryo LX. According to this website, the LX did much better than other coolers (including Antec 200). http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/antec_notebook_cooler_200/3.htm

as for the NC2000, I think it will be too small. The width of my current 17" is about 15.5 inches, so a 18.4" screen size will be slightly over 16 in width. Which is perfect for the LX, which is 16.6" width.
