I'm looking at the v200 in particular.

I use the scroll button for just about everything. Perhaps even more than my left/right click buttons. I heard once that the 4-way scroll option makes the button a little harder to click. If this is true, I'd rather just pay a little more for the v270 w/o the four way. I love the soft rubbery scroll buttons on both the kensington and radio shack mice in our house, but none of them are wireless, and they're all mini-notebook sized...

It can, but you can simply disable it if it bothers you. Logitech's SetPoint software allows that on my v450, I don't know if the v200 does though, I didn't think the v200 had 4 way scroll in the first place..

yeah. I would really like to buy the vx revolution if it wern't for the stupid features that just make it more invconvenient and drive up the price.

    the
"... is perfect if only the middle button wasn't so stiff..."
was exactly what I was worried about.

I'm very finicky about stiff scroll buttons on mouses.

My school has some nice black logitech optical mouses, which are only like $12. If they only came cordless, I would definately buy them.

I'm still using a ball-bearing type dell mouse on my desktop pc(which is comfortable, but a bit too clickity and cheap-plastic feeling, and non-wireless). I'm recieving my sony sz premium the day after tomorrow, and I really need to find myself a mouse.

and I disagree with what you said about it having to be "SMALL". Targus and kensington both offer really nice mini-sized notebook mice. The MoGo mouse is a credit card sized bluetooth mouse that you can actually store and charge INSIDE your notebook. (stable and functional)

well, I thought it was a pretty cool alternative to a touchpad. (i'd buy it if I was filthy rich) =P

I think the v450 hit a nice sweetspot between the ultra-mini and the desktop sized mice. I wish they offered that a little cheaper, without the 4 way scroll, and with the charcoal color available in the US.

haha. sorry. but 3-4x the size of firefox?! are they crazy?!!
but SetPoint isn't necessary, right? I thought it was just to set functions for the left/right scroll.
I can deal with the regular middle click, but I also use the 'mouse gesture' plugin for firefox, which i have become EXTREMELY reliant upon.
so like left-right click, for forward, right-left, for back. middle-left/right to browse between tabs. Maybe I can live without using the middle click rocker. yea.. it might seem i've become extremely lazy.. but it's very handy. Whenever I use a different computer, its really frustrating now, that the mouse gestures doesn't work.

I think Logitech is trying to make sure they have a mouse for everyone! lol seems nuts to me also, but people do differ on their likes and dislikes. Take me and you for example...I have to VX revolution and I can't believe I lived without that hyperscrolling feature.

It's actually NOT why I bought it, but now I can't use another mouse without thinking "eeww"! lol It does make it extremely easier (and a hell of a lot funner) to fly through a 300 to 500 page TO. :D But I mainly wanted it for the wireless with storable USB dongle, the laser, and the forward and back buttons. But that's just my pereferance that cost me a pretty penny. ;)

Well, for me, The optical doesn't work as well when I'm using certain surfaces...and I use all kinds of surfaces (especially when I deploy). Anything from a glass coffee table, to a carpet, to a uber dirty table, or even my own leg or bed spread.

I just was getting more frusterated with my gf's optical mouse...so I decided to try the laser and I'm glad I did. But that's just my preferences and lifestyle. :)

But if you are always using a decently smooth and flat surface, then optical is more than enough for most people. I'd say hardcore gamers are the only ones that should go with a laser even with a good surface...but that's because they can adjust the DPI to fine tune their gaming styles (which sounds pretty nifty in itself...something I can't do that with my VX). :p

    i have a v200 and i love it
i dont think that the middle button is too stiff at all, and i love the 4-way scrolling feature
only downside is that the usb thing sticks like half way out the bottom when its being "stored" away...wish there was a slot for it too
