Hi, I'm looking for logitech laser(new technology isnt) mouse to be able to use for both my desktop and notebook.

I want to buy this one
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826104018

specification only show usb. I wonder if it will still work when connecting with ps/2 adapter.

Just like this one has same laser technology and also offers ps/2 adapter:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826104196

But I just don't like the looks of the mx610

My desktop have bit problem with its usb so I want to look for one that works
with ps/2 connector for 100% that it works. I just notice the new laser technology on higher price ones like G7 or mx revolution just don't offer ps/2 adapter maybe it's not compatible?

    Thanks

I might be dumb at this but this is the first time that I have seen a USB to PS/2 adapter used for a wireless mouse and I only been using computers for the past 20 years.

I really do not know if it will actually work, who wants to be the ginea pig?

You re saying that you are having problems with your USB on your desktop, maybe you should look at getting a USB Adapter Card for your desktop?

i don't know if it would solve the problem. And seem like alot of usb problems are hard to be solved from what I search in the net. The usb actually can read flash drive and external hard drive, recharge an ipod, but failed to detect device like my cellular phone, in which my laptop can. So I just prefer to use the ps/2.

the logitech v450 looks nice and offers both left and right handed, as I can use both left and right.

edit: usb problem kind of a bit complicated such as one of my old laptops couldnt detect any usb devices, and with the usb pcmia still did not work.

we have some Logitech wireless mice that came with the USB to PS/2 connector, it works fine on the one ancient Dell we have plugged in through the adaptor.

Pretty much there isn't a lot of difference between the ps2 and usb sockets. I believe your mouse will work as long you have the usb - ps2 adapter. They both have power in them so the receiver will work. Quality using wise, I think usb will be better, but I'm not 100% sure. If I were you, don't go after the looks, go for the feel of the mouse. Since it is one of the MOST important part of your computer.

it should work fine with an adapter -- i've used the MX1000 on a PS/2 port with an adapter before, no problems, no lag.

thanks for the replies, I'm not too well sure which ones would be good or not, as I am still using the old non optical mouse for years. seems like nowadays all of them should be more responsive, and a scroll button which are most important to me.

one thing I prefer is mouse that can last for awhile without recharging or switch batteries and I prefer aa battery ones as I got alot of those nimh recharable ones, so the mx might not be a good one for me.

Most important for me is I can be able to fast movement with it when I use it for work, touchpads and track points can't. So it is a bit hard for me to test them.

the vx revolution seems to be good but a bit too costly for now. For the g7, I don't exactly know if I need 2000 dpi or not.
