    Hi,
I recently purchased Logitech z305 and they are amazing for the price and the sound is a big improvement over builtin speakers.

Now is it possible to power them up using usb cable powered throught wall outlet somehow, the reason I ask is coz then I can hook em to my ipod or smartphone without turning the laptop on.

    Thanks :)

Does that speaker have a 3.5mm audio jack? I was under the impression that the audio signal was sent via USB connection in which case you could not use your iPod anyway. If it does have one then an iPod ac adaptor should do the trick for power or any charger similar.

    Thanks for replying.
yes it does have the 3.5mm headphone in.
The other day I was using my smartphone phone with the speakers powering it through a usb of a laptop.

My only concern is that if I try to power it through a usb cable from power outlet, it might give to much power to the speaker to burn it or something.

    What do u guys think?

    Is it safe to try?

    Thanks again.

any USB AC adapter should work, They will all be rated at 5V and the speakers will draw as much current as they need (<500mA)
It will be perfectly safe, as long as the AC adapter complies with USB specs

I tried it few days ago and it works fine, no need of having my laptop around.
The USB outlet plug powered it fine.

Thanks for your help and sorry for the late reply :)

dang you got to it before I was going to answer. Can it be powered through USB in a wall outlet, sure. Not sure what the recommended voltage and the other recommended power specifications are. That's how I power my laptop cooler fans. Since it is connected via USB, I don't want to stress the usb port. So I got a generic Apple - wall charger off ebay for a $1. Works just fine to me :D
