I’m looking for a sleeve for the Dell e1505. The more pressure resistant the better, but as light as possible.

I'm taking a look at this one: http://www.radtech.us/Products/SpecialtyBags.aspx#Rebound

    This is from the description:

    Description

Rebound is a laptop portfolio, totally enclosing your laptop and protecting it from shock, bumps and scratches. It's made from high resistance polyurethane foam that seems rigid on first touch, but actually compresses and indents when you put pressure on it. The foam then slowly expands and reverts to its original condition.

This slow compression and rebound release acts as a shock absorber, spreading the impact of sudden bumps and jolts and generally providing a higher level of protection.

Looks promising but I'm unsure that it'll fit an e1505. The e1505 has larger dimensions than a PowerBook 15.

    Dell Inspiron e1505:
    Height: 1.44" (36 mm)
    Width: 14" (356 mm)
    Depth: 10.45" (265.5 mm)
    Apple PowerBook 15":
    Height: 1.04" (26.3 mm)
    Width: 13.4" (341 mm)
    Depth: 9.49" (241 mm)

    I wonder...I know they have different sizes...etc - I'm going to see if I can find a fit for a 14" Asus W3j.

I checked out the Shinza website, but I also found on one forum that their customer service is really lousy.
Thus I'm aiming at Dicota Perfectskin 15.4" which is made of neoprene not the supposedly more shock-resistant polyurethane that Shinza has, does anyone know if it fits e1505 nicely?

    Olifka-
Anything to report on the Dicota?

I just saw a sleeve that looks perfect; find it at http://www.axio-usa.com.
    look for 'hardsleeve LG'.
It’s disgustingly expensive but it seems to be externally solid.

I’ve spent so much time looking for a case that I won’t know what to do with my life after I get one.

the price bites as well. I'm not considering just plain neopryne anymore, as I tried it and it was pretty lousy (mine was by Shoreline), so I'm looking at the polyurethane ones by Shinza. Did anyone end up ordering?

I just ordered the 15" XL from Shinza. I emailed them and asked about the Large or XL for the 6400/E1505 and they recommended the XL because it was made for widescreen. However, they said that either way, there will be a little extra room, just a difference is having the extra room horizontally or vertically. Ill let you know how it fits when i get it. Looks like im the guinea pig for this one

Edit to Add: just got my tracking #... its suppost to be here tomorrow ie. May 4

alright guys, i got the zeroshock case. It is of great quality, like nothing else i have seen in stores. And any pictures or even the video review floating around the internet do it no justice, it is much different that what i was expecting (in term of material).
So i got the 15" XL widescreen model... and well.. it sure is XL. There is more than just a "little bit" of extra room in there. Just by looking at the dimensions on paper, it is apparent that there will be some extra room, but now that i have the case, there seems to be quite a bit more then i expected. When the case is zipped up, my notebook can/does slide around just a little bit. I was playing around with the extra room for a bit; and you can actually even fit the AC adapter in there with it. Granted there will be a bulge sticking out because of the way you have to position it.
Just by seeing this one in person, and recomparing it to the dimensions on their website, i would think that you could even be able to squeeze the E1505 into the regular 15" case. Because their interior dimensions on the website are listed with a height of 1.8in, and the E1505 is only 1.44" that would give some extra room on the sides... so it may be possible to squeeze it in there.
All in all. it is an awesome case, i have no doubt that it will protect my notebook even with the extra room. However, if i could do it again, i would probably get the regular one first, then if it doesnt fit return for the XL widescreen model.

Hope this helps guys. And i wuold be interested if anyone does decide to grab the normal 15" model for their E1505/6400.

great review aero. i would buy the shinza but they haven't reponded to my 2 contact attempts, so as far as I'm concerned their service is non-existent. i'm hesitant to order from a company that doesn't respond to just questions.

the sumdex impact sleeve is similar to the shinza and alot of people seem to like it. Personally, i'm a fan of the vyper from www.booqbags.com though it's a bit expensive, it looks nice and it offers good protection for slipping it into another bag.

That Axio Hardsleeve SM is pretty sweet - I wonder if it will fit an Asus W3j - 14" Widescreen? It says the liner is adjustable, but who knows?

Hmm, yeah... Shinza may be just a bit dissappointing in their contact-ability. They did respond to my first email rather promptly, but the second one i sent them (just after recieving the case) still hasnt gotten a response. However, the case is not even made by Shinza.

The case came in packaging with Japanese characters all over it, so its definately imported. However from the few things in English i can tell the case is made by Elecom and still has the ZeroShock title. You can goto there website, but cannot buy direct from them, they have links to retailers, but they all seem to be in the UK.

Heres a link to the laptop cases on their site. http://www.elecom.eu.com/products/Laptop_Cases/index.html Also check out the Zeroshock Bags

Hopefully thatll give you some leads if you dont wanna buy through shinza :)

So did you get the XL or the Large? I was wondering if I should order the Large one since there is a review over there that says it fits perfectly an Inspiron 6000D.

    Thanks

I'm getting a Sumdex finally. It's same price as the neoprene Dicota, but made of polyurethane. Anyway, click the link for more info. And yes, I am getting the red one :)
I should have it on Sunday, will post my opinion here soon after.

Alright, my Sumdex sleeve has arrived and it's a perfect fit for 6400/e1505. I didn't perform the iron ball test :p ,but I recommend this sleeve for e1505 owners.

Thanks Olifka, I might get one for my E1705, it is cheap, but looks nice. Will it protect Laptop from scratches? or more important, do you think it will protect laptop from bumps and falls?

Does the Sumdex offer a cover between the zipper and the e1505 to prevent scratches from the zipper? Also, how does it do cushioning the laptop from drops/bumps?

Can you take off the nylon handles on the sumdex? Personally not a fan of them, I'd just like a normal sleeve. (I'm actually looking for a 1405, but seems like not many 1405 owners yet :] )

to juniodude: Sumdex surely looks like it protects from scratches. As they claim, they performed a test with 100 g iron ball dropped on 2 mm glass inside the sleeve from a height of 6.5 ft and the glass remained intact. However, as I didn't take Dell special warranty, I'm not going to throw my lappie out of the window and try what happens :p

to thamlyn: It is having memory foam on all sides of the sleeve, which I think is good. It feels rather thin, I expected it to be thicker.
Unfortunately, there is no cover on the inner side of the zipper. The zipper doesn't go all around the sleeve though, it's only on the upper edge.

to kdub: I was a bit hesitant about the nylon handles myself, but now I find them quite helpful actually - just for carrying my lappie two floors down to a meeting or some other occasion like this. I don't know if you can remove them nicely as they are sown under the gray ribbon running on the edges.
