Hi, I was wondering if there was a soundcard for the notebook that would allow you to hear one sound while playing through a headphone and another sound that would play through the speakers?

Basically you configure it so that you have one sound coming out from the speakers and one out from the headphones you have plugged in either into the notebook or the soundcard.

    Yea... a pro-audio sound card.

My M-Audio FW1814 lets me do that with my speaker system and headphones... but a typical person would not even tap a fraction of its potential.

XMOD is weird..it does have two jacks..one for speaker & one for h'phone..but it doesnt let me play both at once ..i tried many software tweaks & bypassing plugins..but none work.

You'd have to use a program to bypass the card. As soon as you plug it in it overrides your speakers.
