Well, now that I have decided on the notebook, (fujitsu S6210), I need to start accessorizing[].
I am going to buy a knapsack carrying case for sure for back and forth to school. But I am also looking for a very small case for moving between rooms and stuff (I have a propensity of being clumsy (and carrying too much stuffens, pencil case, papers) and don't want to carry the laptop on top of all that other stuff in my hands).
The problem, a lot of the cases I see almost weigh more than my laptop, defeating the purpose of me agonizing over a few ounces of notebook weight! Any suggestions for a very thin, small and lightweight case that will fit the S6210? Or places I should look.
Thanks
Marianne (finished one decision, 18 more to go!)[8D]

If you're looking for a hard case to protect against falls, most will be somewhat large to acomodate the materials and any type of added protection such as cushioning for drops. If you're looking for spill or scuff protection, a simple neoprene cover can be found for around $15.00
Possible suggestion: If you're going to get a knapsack carrying case, look for one that includes a removable hard cover. This way you get your bag but also have a case to carry your machine in. I have a Victorinox WebSak which features a hard laptop cover and drop protection. Something like that may fit your needs. Check out http://www.ebags.com -
For a soft case, check www.spireusa.com. They make "boots" that go inside their backpacks, that work nicely as stand alone units as well. We'll be posting a review of their Volt backpack in the next two weeks or so as well.

I'm not sure it will work for you, but I can tell you what I have done for myself. I also like super light notebooks and hate the thought of carrying one around in a big bulky case. I bought a leather portfolio that came with a writing pad and 3 ring binder in it. I just took the pad and binder out and put my notebook in it instead. (See a picture of a similar item HERE ).
It is light, easy to carry around with the handles and the leather gives it a bit of padding. I've been using it as a computer case for better than 5 years now and it's hard to imagine using anything else.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 2, 2015 -
I was thinking of doing something similar when I purchased a Toshiba Libretto. Our associates (in the company I work for) used to use these humongous metal binders. The spines were removable but could attach to a flat backing. I was trying to jury rig one of them into a portfolio and then I was going to secure my Libretto to it. I know, kind of hard to visualize, but your idea reminded me of something I had tried.

I don't know if this fits your needs, but I checked out the Targus and CaseLogic websites and found a couple cases that are small & light enough to fit your notebook.
I really like the CaseLogic's NPE 1 EVA Shuttle, it's a type of "boot" as what Brian mentioned, plus it also holds files, papers and a pen. They also have other products almost as small with handles and some with shoulder straps.
If those are too large for your unit, I also found a product from Tumi that may fit a bit better.

For whatever it is worth, I still prefer the leather portfolio solution better. To me, it just looks a lot more professional.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015
