A number of people have rec. the tombihn backpacks and the sleeves. I was wondering if anyone has the size 5 monolith or brain cell sleeve and if the internal dimensions on their website were accurate, or was there a little give. My UX is 10.83 wide and less than an inch thick, but with the extended battery is around 10.25 deep, so none of the sleeve dimensions are ideal. The size 5 would be ideal width-wise- I was wondering if the brain cell bag, given that it has a velcro closure, had a little leeway or is the 9.5" depth accurate?

Alternately, anyone have a good suggestion for a backpack with good book capacity with preferably a built-in sleeve?

    Thanks

The depth is accurate, but there is some give. Asking for 3/4 inch might be too much though.

Backpacks are pretty subjective. I'm playing with a Sumdex unit right now that has their impact guard linig on the bottom of the notebook compartment. Also try looking at ebags to see what styles you like.

Do you know of any backpacks which have an appropriately sized sleeve? The only one I saw was the Crumpler Salary Sacrifice, but the bag itself was too small to hold much. I need a backpack for times when lugging more books than the capacity of a messenger bag, but want a sleeve for a smaller unit.

I have the size 5 Monolith from Tombihn.com. I'm able to fit a binder inside it that 10.5" deep, but it stretches the sleeve out quite a bit, I wouldn't recommend it. Give the TomBihn a phone call. They could make a recomendation.

or check out this sleeve. looks pretty good.

Thanks for the suggestions. Since it goes in and out of the bag several times a day, I was hoping to find one with a built in sleeve for convenience. Looking at the Booq BP-3 - even though the sleeve is for a bigger unit, will it afford good protection for a smaller unit? Any other recommendations?
