So after getting my sidewinder off of ebay, i seem to be having some weird problems that may or may not be attributed to the mouse itself. I plugged it into my alienware and it worked fine for a bit. but then all my usb ports failed. they work when i start the machine up, but not after about 10 min of use.

now i am getting rid of this piece of junk, and now am using my old compaq. I plugged the mouse into that and it also worked fine. but about 5 min later, it stopped being recognized. Then windows told me that there was something wrong with the mouse. I have another usb mouse in that port and it works fine so it isn't the port.

I haven't installed the software that came with it, but it is a usb mouse so it should still work. has anyone had problems like this before, and if so, how did you fix them.

Is is possible that some kind of virus is what caused your USB ports to go sour on your Alienware? And that it was saved to the on board memory on the mouse?

    Just a thought....

while possible, i doubt it as the change was very quick when i plugged this thing in, like 10 min maybe.
