i want to get a small bluetooth adapter for my laptop. i want one that isn't like a usb flash drive but something like a usb block? i don't know if that made any sense, but i want something that only juts out like, maybe 1/4 of an inch or 5-7mm.

    thanks

If'n I was you I would just get the internal bluetooth module from Dell.

It costs like $20 or so and is easy as all hell to install. It does not waste a USB port. No fuss. No muss.

USB dongles are cheap, but they jut out. There are also software issues. I bought one and the company did not have Vista software, so I have limited connection for transfers. It sucks.

The 355 currently ships free from Dell so it costs ~$22 total.

The internal bluetooth is a tiny little card/module. Smaller than a mini wireless.

It goes in the slot that holds the memory. You unscrew the memory cover and then remove a screw holding down the card holding dealie (it is near the front edge of the machine; the memory is on the left and the bluetooth card goes on the right against the edge of the case). It pops in and you run the included software for Bluetooth. It works very well. The manager does leave a bit to be desired though.

The bluetooth card is much easier to install than a wireless card. This is not hidden under the keyboard. I think all that is between you and bluetooth are four screws. Maybe five.

It is a like a 4 minute job.
