I have an easy chair with corduroy-like fabric. I'd like to be able to use a mouse on the arm of the chair.

My previous Targus Travel mouse mouse worked great but the cord died.

My optical mouse doesn't work worth a crap on the chair.

Anyone using a mouse (wireless or wired I don't care) in this situation with this type of fabric?

I cant tell you from first hand experience, but Bluetrack from microsoft is supposed to be good for those hard to recognize surfaces. Also logitech makes one that is supposed to work anywhere...

I have a Microsoft MMouse 6000 w/Bluetrack technology & it works pretty well for me, even on a Berber carpet.

The other type like Microsoft's Bluetrack technology is Logitechs Mice with Darkfield Technology. The Logitech Wireless Performance Mouse MX & the Anywhere mouse both have it. Both are really good mice.

I also have a 6000 and especially for you, I dug out one of the corduroy jackets I bought when I decided to dress my age (and then consigned to the back of my wardrobe very soon after, never to be worn).

    Tracks very well IMO.

Haha! :D I tried it on a Wool Pea Coat, and it tracked pretty well on that!

One thing it didn't track well for me in the past was on a Hard-covered Book. I was using it in place of a mouse pad..and the Book Sleeve was a bit to glossy for a good hold.

Like Cin', I'd say the Anywhere MX (which I use and recommend completely; THIS might help ) or Performance Mouse MX (its bigger brother). No ifs, ands, or buts on my part :).

Thank you all and especially Vogelbung. I've decided to give the 6000 a try. I'll post back after a couple of weeks just to let you know.

Thought I'd pass along my thanks to all and my experience too.

I did get the MS 6000 for use with my new Vostro 3700. It works perfectly on my very shiny granite counter top and also on my high textured (almost corduroy but not quite) easy chair.

    I am a happy camper.

Glad to hear the MS 6000 is working well for you. You will find that the battery life on it is also pretty decent. : )

Grab this: Logitech M515: The Couch Mouse. It was recently launched and doesn't have many reviews yet, but it was designed specifically for what You need it for and, all in all, Logitech mice are great.

I kinda like this mouse : ) Looks like the list is about $49.99 right now, at least at amazon. Amazon will prolly list the price lower sooner than the latter.

It is hand activated & has a good battery life & that great hyperfast scrolling... :D
