does anybody know what mp3 players support gps?
I know the ipod has google maps through wifi, but that doesn't really help me when I am in the middle of nowhere. also I don't want to pay a monthly fee.
any ideas? I plan to use this in a car to listen to music and have the map.
I don't care if it doesn't tell me where to turn, I just need to be able to look where I am at.
thanks

im not sure whether there exists a MP3 player with GPS capabilities, but there are GPS devices that play MP3(PocketPC/Palm devices with GPS)
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.19609
but the thing is that battery life is somewat bad (3 hours, becuase the screen is on).. u can use TCPMP to play MP3 with the screen off (~5 hours)....
my mum has a Dell Axim x51v (pocketpc) with a Bluetooth GPS receiver.... ~2-3 hours battery life for just GPS usage... has a car adapter to charge the two devices -
Cowon Q5W has a GPS cradle, its a great PMP which plays almost all video and audio codecs. It has a 5" touch screeen. www.jetmall.net

I was reading about the Cowon, but it's really bulky. I see that some Garmin play mp3s and I can hook them up to the ac adapter. it's true that there aren't many mp3 player that do that.

Its not that big really. My bro has one in his 07 chevy colorado and it fits perfectly. The GPS base is a bit big, but I've thought about modding it so you don't have to use the supplied base, just the GPS part.

so how much is the addon for GPS? is it only hardware or you have to buy a software as well? I mean on the website I couldn't find anything about GPS.
-
I think the Archos 605 has a GPS dock and it is smaller than the Cowon.
-
Woah I am considering getting one of these now

There, it comes with the GPS cradle, you have to have it in the cradle for the GPS to work. -
wouldnt it be better just to get an mp3 player and a gps unit?
-
your looking either at cowon or ipod that comes with an gps installed
-
I believe there is an Archos that has the feature too, like someone already mentioned. I'm not sure which model or how it works as I'm not that big of a fan of Archos.

I figured I am gonna get a serious gps that supports mp3 player. this way around is better
