At my CAD workstation I've been using a Logitech mouseman wheel for the past 8 years and it still works well but doesn't slide across the pad very smoothly anymore. I'm noticing the cursor speed is pretty slow in autocad, even with the speed control cranked all the way up, so that was enough excuse for me to pursue a new mouse. The new gaming mice with lots of speed options sounded interesting so I found the G5 on sale at newegg.com and got one to try.

I connected it today and loaded the software so I could reprogram one of the thumb buttons. The mouse has 2 buttons on it to adjust the speed as you use it, plus you can adjust the speed by software. Its default medium speed is about right for what I want. The mouse is lightweight and slides very smoothly on my pad. I don't have any of the weights installed in it yet and I'll probably set it up for medium weight and try that.

I probably have bigger hands than normal, at least longer fingers. The mouse is a good size for me. Right now everything feels good and is working the way I want it to so I think this will be a good mouse. Hopefully it will last as long as my older Logi.
