I've been endlessly searching for a do all laptop bag without it being the generic run of the mill Tumi, Victorinox, Timbuk2, etc.
I usually carry 2 15" laptops and powercords, peripherals, and I'm off and on airplanes daily, so I needed something that opened quick, stored a lot and comfy.

The pix don't do it justice...the lining is super soft italian cotton
It's a bit pricey, but man, super built, I don't think I'll be needing anything else for a LONG time

When you basically live with you laptops, travel everyday with it, work with clients toting it, doesn't it become a part of your wardrobe, and its seems most consultants overlook how often we're really dragging those bags around, for me its like almost as often as my cell phone, plus I like comfort, quality, function, but it is expensive, I won't argue that
I spent $500 on this Tumi one, it had similar accommodation but was heavy as hell and only lasted a year.

I think this is also Hlaska's most expensive, they have smaller versions for single or maybe double laptops setups.

Woah, WAY to expensive. You can get a pretty mean SwissGear bag for only $80.
-
YIKES, i don't even make that much in a YEAR!
-
I can now kind of see why my bag review was a really terrible idea for this forum.
-
O_O $475? Wow, I thought that my friend was crazy for paying $90 for his backpack.
-
You could do so much more with your money... like give it to me! A bit too expensive and fashionable for my tastes. Does the bag come with LoJack
?

Its probably just a case of teenagers and poor University students in here that are possibly in the majority - and when people start talking over $300 (I can only use AUD here...) they tend to baulk at the thought, and yet, happy to spend a thousand or so on a notebook, yet not willing to spend the money to cart or protect it. (I have had many a discussion with some people I know who will happily buy LV or Bally bags, for use just a few times a year, yet die of shock at the thought of a $500 leather laptop bag, and would much prefer the $50 special 'laptop bag' at the local bag shop..lol)
I would probably buy a bag like this one, although I won't as I love my Knomo, it looks well built and I actually think it value for money given what it will be carrying and I think the OP has done well as probably doesnt need everyone else telling him its too expensive for them!! -
Actually - I've had a few issues with Knomo, apart from the leather on them to tend to look 'tired' quite quickly even with periodic 'feeding'. I've had straps come off and strengthening plates come loose. The warranty is decent but like my notebooks, I don't actually want to buy stuff on which I am expecting to use the warranty (e.g. my preference of Sony over Apple - although the TT has shaken my confidence in them).
This was what lead me to look into 'proper' laptop bags - because I've had the same experience in regular attache cases / document bags. I'd buy a cheap $300 ~ $400 one, and it'd look terrible in a year or two because I travel a lot - which was why I turned to bags and custom work from companies like Swaine Adeney for my travelling gear.
The lightbulb finally lit recently that my main bag these days wasn't an attache but laptop bags - and that I had to do the same thing as the above in order to be really happy. And I have to say that has been accomplished - I look forward to no longer replacing bags like the Knomos every year either because their look is obsolete or because they've worn out. I now have a traditional-style bag but with laptop storage which should last at least a decade, and a design classic briefcase which doubles as sleeved laptop storage - as well as forthcoming custom bags and accessories in a combo of bridle hide, very high quality leather and carbon fibre (and not the 'faux' carbon on the Sony's!) - all of which are also expected to last at least 10 years. In hindsight I should have done this a lot sooner.

interesting revelation...
make a good investment in something that will last and is timeless and you'll be satisfied and secure transporting your seriously valuable laptop, which typically contains irreplaceable and invaluable information... -
Well - sort of.
Especially since the new custom bags are... um, an itsy bitsy bit more than even my M6400 Covets
There might be a tiny bit of 'statement' lurking there as well -
wow...Swaine Adeney...very impressive!!! but let's not get every chatting about the cost of those...
-
Indeed. Some really nice bags on that site. The woodgrain briefcase is pretty intriguing I must say. Wonder how it looks in real life and how it holds up in use.

What's the name of that model?

vinceboiii Animals are friends, not food.
omg...if i had that money i put it towards my car..lol or something else gees 500! bucks it better last for a 312178389715jbasd years. damn! thats expensive hahaha. you, sir, are BALLIN'

But if something that costs $500 lasts for a couple of years AND protects your notebook of a few thousand dollars in the process I see it as an investment as well. Besides cheap bags, look, well...cheap..
Swissgear bags seem to get recommended by many in here and yet I look at them and think they are hideous(not to mention cheap - of course this is purely personal opinion) Something that looks classical and you pay that extra for does not look cheap and nasty at the end of the day, and I prefer NOT to look 'cheap and nasty' or like a University student either, I want to look like a professional...and having something that you pay a bit more for is more likely to be unique rather than the same thing as seen on everyone else!
And its nice to see there are other people in the world that value appearance and function not just the cost of things!
As for your comments about the Knomo's Vogelbung, thanks, I will keep that in mind, I have used mine a fair bit going from airport to airport and its still looking good, nice plain black business styled 'Vichy' womens bag, but I have only had it for about 4 months now...so I shall see how it fares after 12 months
(or less, depends if I get something different in the mean time, I like to chop and change bags like the wind - hey its a chick thing..lol) -
Cheers geekygirl!!!
