    HI, i just got a dv camcorder and I am in need of a firewire connection for my laptop? any ideas, ive done some searches for products, bu they are all $100 and plug into the pc card slot.

    HAHHA, what $10? for that, $5 for shipping, well thats for the staes, its gotta be like $20 with customs to canada. in th emean time, i found one in my city for $39, some oem one. seems cheaper than futureshop or best buy, but certainly not as good as that one posted there.

    does the manufacturer of this product really matter much?

    Also look in ebay, it can be had for quite cheap there too.
    I got mine off ebay - been working good for years.
    Manufacturer should not matter much methinks, I mean its only like 10$
