What do you mean by huge capacity because the largest I know of is 4TB.

    What is you budget?

For some good deals look at Frys electronics and newegg.com

Western Digital makes good drives. Their quality has improved quite a bit, and their support/warranty is top-notch.

I don't recommend the Freeagents. I bought one for myself and I'm dissapointed. The little connectors at the bottom are fragile and easily break. Apparently this is a big issue on their support forum. I haven't been able to get Seagate to send me a new connector, so I am just going to crack the case and take the drive out.

Waste of money. I just bought a Thermaltake hard drive dock that I will use. Seems like the easiest route to me...

The WD HDD is good but their chips seems to be weak.Atleast that's from my experience.

    Seagate is reliable IMHO.

Seagate and Hitachi. WDs are good as well though, at least the desktop drives.

Can the OP be more specific? Are you using it with your laptop? Carrying it around a lot? Do you have USB 1.1/2.0, FireWire400/800, eSATA? Do you have a weight limit? Size limit? Price limit? Consider buying whatever SATA hard drive you want and a separate enclosure.

I just bought a 1TB Fantom Drive from tigerdirect for $189 after rebate ($20). I don't know if the rebate is still good though. So far it has been great, has both usb and esata. Here's a newegg link to the same drive. They use name brand HDDs. Mine has a WD green drive, or whatever they call them.

And the esata connection has been faster than my laptop's internal sata drive.

Anything wrong with getting a cheap no-name harddrive? Do they really die that easily?

I have the Seagate 7200.11 with a Vantec Drive Dock and it's worked quite nicely for the past month. Costs about 125 bucks (150 with shipping to Hawaii :( ) and all you gotta do is stick the drive into the dock. The advantage with this is that it allows you to get more drives in case you need more space with no hassle.
