Hey guys
I have ordered a gaming laptop which is on its way. I was thinking about getting a wireless gaming mouse for it. There are 2 options in my mind ATM
The Logitech g700
The Razer ouroboros
My current mice include
Razer Lachesis
Logitech mx518
I have no problem with either(though the wheel button on the Lachesis doesn't work very well anymore).
--------
From what i have gathered from reading reviews and user reviews of both these mice, they both have their share of ups and downs. I will list what i know.
G700
The good:
I like the button placement, all 7 buttons on the left seem to be usable. I play LoL a lot and will probably need only 3-4 though.
The mini receiver is fantastic for a laptop.
Most folk are generally happy with its performance.
Better price.
The bad:
Battery life seems to be on the lower side, though I read about a user or 2 who changed batteries to another brand and achieved 50% excess battery time.
The design and material on the mouse seems bland even by Logitech standards...and well, the ouroboros makes that gap all the more...gaping xD.
The USB cable is stiff which some people have complained about.
The Ouroboros
The good:
Fantastic design. Looks like a Lamborghini.
General performance seems alright.
better battery life compared to the g700.
Usb cable is not stiff.
The bad:
Some people have reported performance issues especially when switching DPI.
Receiver needs cable.
Buttons probably not as well placed as Logitech.
Higher price point.
------------------
So there you have it. Thats all I have gathered. What I would like to know is if there is a performance issue that you guys know about that would make one of these a bad buy. Any feedback is appreciated.

I have the razer orochi. I like it.
-
do you have the new orochi or the old one? i hear the old one isnt very good in wireless mode. I also hear the new one can manage 2000dpi in wireless mode. 2000dpi is good enough for me. How would you rate its performance?
personally, I was looking to avoid razer and go for a logitech mouse as they are slightly cheaper and perform just as good for me. However, the looks of the ouroboros convinced me to give it a fair trial xD -
I have the ouroboros and a Taipan.
I thaught i loved wireless but i am using wired now for a long time with the ouroboros, why?
The damn weight, but still wired i think it's the greatest mouse ive ever had.
I had a Razer diamondback (old one from 2002) Great mouse
Taipan is also a great mouse, little bit to small for me, let's to thin from left to right.
I use the ouroboros now for 2 3 months and all i can say, great mouse, go get get!.
The switching of DPI is true, wireless the expereince is horrible of DPI switching (i dont need it, the switching so i am safe)
Best mouse ive ever had after my diamondback!

How is the build quality of the mouse? I hear some people complain the back panel is somewhat flexible and wobbles under pressure. Is that true? also, does the mouse have the same rubber coating as all other razer mice? or have they gone without it this time? -
I always wanted a wireless mouse, but i dont like the weight, i learned this the hard way haha (in windows no problem, but gaming yes, it's a problem for me).
But wired still it's the best ive ever user!

ok. 2 things.
1) How is weight a problem in wireless mode?
2) Does the wire seem loose when in wired mode or is it as if the mouse was a wired mouse all along? -
The battery add like 25gram or so, i dont know, the mouse feels light without a battery and little bit heavy with.
Without battery its like 110-115 gram and with the battery its more like 135 grams or so.
Dont like the weight, doesnt say its a bad thing, but i think every wireless mouse has this problem, the ouroboros is great because you can also use it wired/wireless.
the wire is perfect, always liked the quality wiring from the razer department, its flexible and light wire, you dont really feel it when its wired, i just feel lighter and more humble (my opinion).
I believe there are plenty people that dont have a issue with this weight, its not a heavy weight.
In terms of performance (input lag, response of the mouse, polling refresh rate) it doesnt matter wired or wireless.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I was going for the logitech but the stiff wire fore wired mode and the ouroboros' lamborghini look(basically this) has convinced me to shell out the extra $50-60 for this. I just wanted to confirm It would work fine for years which makes the extra cost worthwhile.
Also, how is the button placement on this? the lachesis I have has horrible button placement where I(as a right hander) can only use 2 buttons on the thumb side. I would like to have atleast 3-4 buttons in easy to press places(thumb, index finger, maybe ring finger). The logitech g700 has around 7 buttons that seem to be very easily accessible through the index finger and thumb. -
another thing. How are the side panels that stick with magnet? Do they feel loose?
-
Thet dont feel lose and very solid (you can move them a little bit, but you need real force you normally dont use).
The mouse is very solid, its overpriced for sure but if you want a special mouse that is very good, can be wired and wireless, you can change the body to the shape of your hand.
It's also a awesome looking mouse on the desk, I think if you want to pay to much money for a mouse then this is the mouse to buy.
-
lol, you probably gave razer another customer for their mouse.
Now just tell me about the button placement and I won't bother you anymore xD -
Button placement for my thumbs is very good, use them alot, the buttons on top are also always used and good for me.
On the right side where my pinky is, I dont use that 2 buttons, never used those buttons, also on other mouses not.
I doesnt feel naturel for me, but's it's a mouse issue every mouse had i geuss it's a senshin issue lol.
Sjoerd -
I cant use the pinky buttons either. The pinky is the king of the hand...doesn't do much..and you can't move it without moving the other fingers with it xD.
back on topic, so basically ill just have 2 extra buttons to work with like my lachesis? -
yes, and you can make the ouroboros longer so you can adjust for perfect finger placement if you like, and more custom things you can do to reach the buttons easier.
You think you keep it wireless?
Or you need to find out?
The great thing is you can try both and both is very good, it's just personal opinion i guess and also depends what you do with the mouse.
If I play Starcraft the mouse is to heavy with battery, it works out alright but my performance is just a little bit better without the battery
need help choosing a wireless gaming mouse
