I like the 24" Viewsonic VX2433wm. It is built for gaming, has great contrast and a super fast response time.

I also like the Samsung 24" P2450H. This also has great contrast with a super fast response time.

You can't go wrong with either one.

Dell UltraSharpTM U2410 would be my choice. Excellent monitor.

From the looks of your signature, it WAS your choice. ;)

In my opinion, this monitor costs too much for what it is. I would never want to game with a monitor that has a 6ms response time (no offense). When it comes to gaming or watching action movies, anything over 4ms is not optimal. I prefer 2ms or less.

This may sound odd but I saw no deference between the gaming on Dell Ultrasharp monitor and the Alienware monitor I had for two weeks. I understand where your point though.

u2412m is the new one and is very good it is like 330 or 340 at provantage but if you call dell and ask if they have coupons going on they will say no but if you act and say like ahhh never mind. I dont want it they probably will go ask the manger and get you 25 bucks off. I got one for my dad for like 328 with shipping and tax included. that is 70 bucks cheaper than the hp zr2440w, which both are comparable monitors. go to tftcentral.com for an awesome review of them.

they have 14ms on and off...that is all that matters the 2ms 4 ms 6 ms gray to gray is meaningless. You never use gray to gray. go check out the tft central reviews and you will see its only slightly slower then the 120mhz screens. the only way to get better then these S-IPS/H-IPS/e-IPS is a 120mhz TN screen and they suck in quality and viewing. Also read the wikipedia article of IPS panels people here say all sorts of dumb things about IPS technology. Always good to spend 5 mins reading to be well informed. Also note a lot of new IPS screens...mostly e-IPS use aFRC or whatever....its not a huge deal but worth noting. eIPS panels i believe use aFRC no matter what or its common practice to keep the price down. Hence how you can get good IPS panel screens for 300-350 bucks. No longer 400-500+. Also on paper eIPS panels have the best response times but that usually never happens for what ever reason.

wiki info on display is not totally correct and update because manufacturer had been play with naming of their technologies.
standard technical testing = none (all done by manufacturer themselves)

Cheap 21-23" are natural 6bit use aFRC to get 8bit color. 24" + modeal are true 8bit .In reality , most won't tell the difference unless reference side by side. TN panel can get the color fluidity of cheap IPS but it is the viewing angel that make IPS stand out.

tft central have some nice info, the review are helpful but should not be the sole guide. As panel and assembly may have difference for each batch.

    tl:dr
either 1. get a cheap 1080p TN 23-24" that go on sale 100-140ish
    2. good review(build and color gamut) TN that on sale start around 130? and regular 160+
    3. 21-23 eIPS around $160-200.(depends on build and brand(warranty), most of them use similar panel, but bad build can cause backlight leak and such)
    4. 24" possible sIPS 1920*1200 $300+.

If you patience/hunt for deal/used, you can possibly(weeks or months) find below 200 old gen sIPS CCFL 23-24" dell. (real bulky and no adjustable stand, but for the price, the image quality is WOW)

Find your budget and do some research at the price point I guess :). Or just hit on w.e sale on newegg when they have23-24" floating around 100.

All above is irrelevant if you looking at 27"+ though ( Poor man like me does't care about big screen~~)

yea no...read the reviews on tft central. a TN will not get the same color gamut of a IPS panel using aFRC. Also the wiki tells you basic info on each companies panels. It is beneficial to read. Also of course it changes between models but its a good source for the overall basic info on each tech.

The dell U2412m uses aFRC....so no 24inch+ are not true 8 bit. Also if I remember correctly...granted go read the reviews to double check even the 2440w uses aFRC.

Aso yes each batch can be different but there is no better source then tftcentral. No one gives as thorough of a review and tells you what the internal screen actual is. e-IPS/H-IPS and so on.

If your going to go with a TN screen and its not a gaming screen then your best off getting the AOC IPS panel. It is the same price as a TN screen but better quality.

Also for the 27+ the best bang for your buck is the ZR2740w from last time i checked.

all new panels as far as i know use 6bit with aFRC all/most the older panels use 8 bit 2410 i think uses 8 bit and i know the zr24w uses 8 bit.
