well i just bought a new headset cuz my old one is broken(only the mic part works). although the mic part did work, all of a sudden after nto having used it for a couple weeks, it doesnt seem to work anymore. so i went ahead and bought a plantronics headset today from circuit city.

i can hear everything perfectly. the problem is with the mic. i tried in vent and my buddy said he can hear me. i try on CS but other ppl cant hear me. and also when i talk and outbound is max, the voice output on the other side is still low for some reason. if i talk really loud, it's like coming out in a normal volume sound.

do you guys know what the problem is? are the issues with the hardware or the drivers?

have you configure the mic settings? you can get a gain/reduction in volume by tuning the mic config. there is usually also a mic gain/boost option on the game option.

    if you're using XP:

start -> control panel -> sounds, speech, and audio devices -> sounds and audio devices

select audio tab, then look for Sound Recording, there should be a picture of a microphone next to it, the click on a button called Volume... under recording tools see what volume the Microphone is on.

uhh i dont think it worked. ppl cant still hear me in CS. and in ventrilo, my outbound is maxed to 10, every volume possible is maxed out and my friend said he can hear me "fine" like perfectly. it's not way too loud as i was expecting it to be. any ideas what could be wrong?
