I am looking for a bag for my notebook (15.4 in screen) and would like a professional looking bag that looks like it belongs in the business environment.
I THINK this means I should look for a (p)leather bag but am open to anything that doesn't look too techy (no backpacks please). I've seen some messenger bags that can double as a notebook bag in some of the stores around here (kenneth cole and wilsons leather to be exact) but was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions as to where I can look.
Any suggestions on what exactly to look for in a bag? Padding, extra pockets, velcro straps, brand: Which of these should be a criteria in choosing which bag to purchase?

No one likes book bags...what's up with that? The key is finding the right one. Check out this series of bags from Swiss Army: : http://www.swissarmytravelgear.com/webstore/category.cfm?Category=130&ViewAll=true&bagtype=
I bought the WebSak and it is a book bag. However, it has a very professional looking finish to it and I've recieved many compliments from my peers. In this series, you'll also find shoulder/messenger bags and duffles. Depending on how much gear you stow, I'd give the WebSak a look. I think you'd be surprised at the functionality and pleased with the professional look, even though it is a 'book bag'. -
I have a Wenger bag that I got from Office Depot for my Emachine 5309. It has lots of pockets, well padded, nice color (mine is red, others available) for about $35
