i'm looking a notebook sleeve for my hp dv1000. i've been scouring the net and there seems to be lots of custom-made sleeves for macs...wish i could find one for my 14" widescreen.

i'm looking for one that has some firmness to it to protect the laptop, so not just a neoprene sleeve which you can get pretty cheap (body glove or case logic). i also want to make sure it's not too big so my laptop isn't sliding around in it.

anyone have a sleeve they really like (with pics maybe)?

i've come across some that i like.

i'm very tempted to get the booq vyper . it's new so i haven't come across too many reviews on it

all i've read are good things about this sleeve from sfbags, but it gets pricey once you start adding in the options.

i like my timbuk2 shoulder bag, so i'm guessing the grip sleeve will be great too. it doesn't look like it has a firm exterior though.

the crumpler school hymn looks good, but really don't know anything about it. neat website though.

    check this sleeve out:

I saw it at CES last week and was highly impressed, it offers supreme protection using memory foam (a NASA innovation)

You can buy the Sumdex case from this place:

I bought a Boog Vyper for my Acer 303XMi (14" Tablet) and it's almost glove fit with just enough room to add AC adaptor on side space. Its a great looking case, hard formed and miminal padding effect if that's what you're looking for.

is the sumdex sleeve sturdy on the exterior or is it also soft/form-fitting like the inside of it?

It's soft, not a hard shell. The notebook is protected by a stiff foam layer. I have one en route to review and will post a review in the next week or two.

    $20 USD. Not bad.

Have any of you seen this bag? I like the impact resistance feature or do all sleeves feature the same claim? Will the DV1000 fit in this case?

    Hi,
I am decided to buy the Sumdex for my new dv1000 laptop that will hopefully arrive in two weeks, but I wanted to ask which one shall I get. I think it will not fit into the 14.1" as the laptop dimensions are 13.15" (L) x 9.24"(W) x 1.18"(H) front & 1.52" (H) rear
    but the sleeve interior only 12.75" x 10.25" x 2"
    The 15.4" has 13.75” x 11.25” x 2”, won't it be too loose?
Any other good cheap sleeves with handles?
    Thanks

    Mima

The original Visco-Elastic Memory Foam was developed in the early 60’s at NASA’s Ames Research Center in an effort to dramatically reduce the effects of the excessive G-Force that astronauts experience during take-off and re-entry. The Sumdex lab has been able to bring this space age technology to develop a high performance ImpactGuard insert sleeve by using Polyurethane SensaTech Memory Foam. By placing the guard in the precise area where the most impact is felt by the laptop, the SensaTech foam absorbs and distributes pressure evenly, saving the laptop from the life-shortening bumps and drops. Full protection on all sides!

Fits most 14.1” screen Laptops (see internal dimensions to see if it fits your particular notebook)

I went with the SFBags sleeve for my 14" widescreen V2000. I would definitely have to recommend this sleeve and give it an excellent rating. Here's why:

Form fit: It's not too tight where it has to stretch the sleeve in order to fit, and not loose where it can slide around while within the sleeve. It perfectly fits the sleeve where I am actually comfortable knowing it's protected. I was looking for a sleeve that was not bulky and did not have any metallic parts to it. It seems that many cases/backpacks have a zipper that is a little too close to the compartment that the laptop is housed in. It's probably not a problem to most people, however for me, I probably would scratch my laptop up while taking it in and out.

Quality: The materials used are a soft foam like fabric on the inside with a backpack type of material on the outside. That's the closest thing I can describe the materials to be like. The stitching is perfect, not a single thread sticking out or splitting seams.

Customer Service: Excellent. I ordered late Sunday night and received an automated confirmation email. On Monday morning I received a personal email from SFBags telling me that my shipment was on it's way, thanking me for my purchase, and including the tracking number. On Wednesday morning I received the sleeve. That was fast. Especially because here in Hawaii, we usually have to add a couple of extra days to any online order.

Conclusion: What can I say? I'm impressed. For the price it's definitely worth it. I think you pay for what you get. I've had those Targus $19.99 laptop bags, and yes, it is a $19.99 bag in terms of quality. I will definitely be doing business with this place again.

I found SFBags from this forum so I'd like to thank "peaceyall" for the links. Here's the link again:
