The right palm area of my laptop is really hot. Is there something I can do about it?

Not really. I will recommend you clean out the fan/heatsink of the laptop.

Locate the ventilation exhaust on the side of the laptop/follow the ventilation.

you could try putting thermal paste on your cpu, maybe that's why its getting so hot. Check the temps to make sure your idle temps are normal.

I know for sure if you have some sort of a metal surface it'll get hot really fast. Maybe try putting something less conductive of heat? a sticker maybe?

Might help knowing what kind of laptop is is ;) they are all designed a bit different.

Under my right palmrest I only have my CD/DVD drive and that only gets warm when the drive is in use.
Under my left I have an Intel SSD - so that stays cool too. (HDD would be different)
Underneath my Touchpad I have my Wi-Fi module...

I think you know what I am getting at ;) - unless you know what is causing the heat there is no way of getting rid of it - unless you want to use your laptop in a fridge... (with dehumidified air ideally)
