okay so some of you may know i bought a razer mamba and am taking it back to future shop tomorrow because i know i paid way to much for a mouse when i dont game that much. so i made my decision to get a Logitech g9x and i can add a headset under about $50 for close to the same price as the mamba. so i was looking at all kinds of headsets from the razer orca, all the way to the plantronics .audio 355. i came across the plantronics gamecom 367 because it is closed ear which is what i want, has a mic, is analog with 2 input cords, and has an on board volume changer. has anyone had any experience with this or similar headsets from plantronics? im ordering this this though newegg for $39.99 and plugging it into my laptop in case thats important. if the orca had a mic i would order that but i need a mic too. also one last thing so i dont get a bunch of useless posts, i will get a 5.1 or 7.1 headset once i get a gaming laptop like an m17x but i wont get that till fall/next spring at least and right now i have a $50 budget. im open to any suggestions as well, most of the games i play are not fps's but i do play tfc and minecraft and will buy tf2 really soon as well, but currently most games i play are racing/driving games.
thanks guys![]()

I have the open-ear version of it, the GameCom 377. I love it, and it's one of the best headsets you can get in the sub-$50 range. I haven't used the 367 personally, but I can't imagine it's that much different in terms of quality.

Ive got the 367, its quite good for its price.
Its big compared to other headphones but it is very sturdy. I really like the way the mic boom, volume control/mic mute is placed. My only gripe is the sound quality, could be better but for a headset under $50 it will do. -
ok thats pretty much what i was thinking about sound quality, build quality is good to hear as is where volume/mic is placed, some in-line controllers are mounted at completely the wrong spot. i guess ill order one tomorrow after i return the mamba! im actually exited! this will be my first headset i have owned for gaming.

In my experience Plantronics makes good very fair priced items.
They specialize in communication devices so its what they do and they have to do it well or they would not be in business. -
I heard the Plantronics .Audio 655 USB is pretty good and cheaper than the Gamecom. Really, the only things I care most about on headsets is the comfort and microphone quality (though it may not compare to actual larger condensers or dynamic mics).

I have the 377 too. Overall great headset. THe only downside for me is that its wee bit tight around my head when i bought it. It get looser with usage though.

Just put a headset on some rolled up towels or something and leave it over night and repeat as needed if it fits too tight. This will slowly stretch it out with damaging it.

you meant 'without' right? I hope so lol...

i had change of heart and im thinking about the razer orca only because i can use it for all my media devices, and i dont NEED the mic just a want really and when i get a 5.1 surround model it will have one for sure but that might be another year before i get one. and i love the color of it too. but on the other hand on the plantronics model, i like the mic factor, closed ear design, and most of all PRICE! but it looks really big and clunky and somewhat uncomfortable. anyone have any orca experience?

The GameCom 367/377 can be used with any "normal" 3.5mm audio jack as well. The microphone is a separate plug, which you would just leave alone if you plug the headphones into another media device. The microphone on the headset tucks into the headband, so it's completely hidden when you don't need it, and it looks like a normal pair of headphones.
As for comfort, the 367/377 is pretty good. It grips your head slightly, but not uncomfortably tight, just enough that it won't fall off when you tilt your head. The ear cushions and headband have more than enough padding.
I have the Carcharias, the headset version of the Orca with a mic, and I like it, but there are probably better choices for plain headphones. But they are extremely comfortable and lightweight, I'll grant you that.
I don't really care for the green color, either. -
If you just want headphones then go for a proper brand like Sennheiser, Audio technica etc.

well ive just found out newegg.com doesnt ship to the people of the north (Canada) and i have to order from newegg.ca, which is normally not a problem BUT this time, the .ca version doesnt carry the plantronics 367 or 377, the only gaming headset they sell by plantronics is the 777 which is double my budget, im gonna have to start my search over because as much as i like the orca, if im going to pay $50 for a headset, i want to have mic too. i have tried the razer carchias on when i purchased my mamba, i didnt mind it but i like closed ear better, i could hear almost everything around me, but i did like the fit. the only thing stopping me from getting that is the $90 price tag. im open to anything now as long as its on newegg.CA not .COM unless anyone knows how to get things to Canada from .com, also it seems the free shipping deal in the US is gone, it costs $12 to ship the orca on .ca when it was free on .com!

just a quick question for you guys... has anyone used a Creative FATAL1TY headset or a Cyber Acoustics AC-960 or Rosewill Audio Pro RHM-6308 USB? if so, how well do they work?
