im looking for a high quality 27inch monitor, at least 1080p with a bright vibrant screen, good color gamut, fast response rate and good text clarity.
im not looking for an ips monitor as i would like to play games on it and want to keep the budget below 375usd if possible
also preferring led for the light weight and cooler look, but a normal bulkier lcd would be just fine.

    Newegg.ca - Hanns-G HZ281HPB 27.5'' 3ms Full HD 1080P HDMI WideScreen LCD Monitor 400cd/m2 X-Contrast 15,000:1(800:1)Built-in Speakers

If you want a bright screen, this thing is bright. Bright enough to blind.

Most people need to turn it down from 100 to 30 in the menu.

The deltaE is under 3.0, which isn't perfect for professional photo editing but is good for anything else. Contrast ratio isn't the best but it's hard to find good monitors in the 27-inch range. The actual refresh rate is 3ms if that's too high for you.

Yes, it seemed great for the price.

Took a bit of tweaking to get good black levels due to the contrast and brightness, but it's probably the best value you'd get from a 27-30 inch monitor under $375.

Also please note that it's only 1200p.

I couldn't find one that was higher for that price and quality.

^I would go for that hp, they make quality monitors imo. And who really cares if a 27"(which is huge) monitor is bulky and consumes more power anyway. Unless your into saving the world. Oh and you will appreciate that added amount of contrast ratio.

well being a dive photographer, nature conservation is quite important to me fyi.
but that hp really seems like a good deal for the monitor you get though.

That Samsung panel has a 5ms delay and is not recommended if you play FPS games. It also has a deltaE of more than 4, which means the colours will not be very accurate (unless you have a calibration tool).

I can't find any information on the HP 2710m (like the real contrast ratio or deltaE) which is kind of weird.

the most appealing thing of the samsung is its hybrid tv/monitor setup.
it seems to get good scores all around but specwise the hp just seems to be more advanced. in fact the only areas where the samsung seems to beat the hp is in viewing angle and power consumption.

I bought a pair of Samsung P2770H (at Costco) here in the States. They are $299+Tax (8.25%) with the Costco additional year warranty out the door each.

I have to say, moving up from 2xAcer X223W's, these P2770H's work extremely well. I have my primary connected via HDMI and the secondary connected via DVI (my video card only has HDMI and DVI out).

I was comparing them to the Asus 25.5" V266WH for $247 (after rebate) on Amazon.com, but I was turned off by the negative reviews (on another site) regarding picture quality and color accuracy.

If you can get near a Costco and try one, you have 90 days to try it.
