i currently have a Dell XPS M1210 (as you can see in my sig). Lately I have been watching a lot of video (tv i record and dvds, etc) while at work or just out and about. i have been so much that im now planning on getting a portable media player to substitute for my laptop. here's my problem though, i read about all these different players on cnet and such, but they pretty much all look about the same.

here is a post i made on a different forum, and got no response. so im hoping the turn out is a little better here.
basically i want something that has 2 hours+ of battery, can store at least 30GB and can play DIVX/XVID if possible. I really don't want to have to convert the video i have to play it on a portable player.

if you know anything about PMPs, or anywhere else to post/talk to someone about them please drop a post in the thread.

p.s. if this is a bad place for this thread im sorry but i couldn't think of where else to put it.

the creative zen m might be a viable option at 30 gb. the reviews say its apparently up there with the video ipod, and then you get to use it as a straight usb hard drive, built in mic, fm receiver (i think) etc etc

The Tosh gigabeat S gets close to 6 hours video battery life time, according to CNet testing.
There are bigger capacity versions of the Archos 604, I think theres an 80GB and a 100GB version too. Look at the Archos 404 as well, its a smaller (3 or 3.5" screen) and cheaper version of the 604.
Look at the Toshiba Gigabeat V. Its much similar to the GBS, except with a 3.5" screen and newer design. Capacities are 30 and 60GB.
Thought about the Zune? It seems pretty good for your requirements....
No offense, but the Zen vision M is not all that impressive, primarily because of its interface and size. The size of the Zune can be justified because of screen size, layout, and wifi, but the ZVM has same specs and screen size as ipod, so it shouldnt be the size of the Zune...

Something else to keep in mind, the 3" and 3.5" 4:3 screens use the same resolution as the smaller screens of 2.4 and 2.5" size, so the images appear stretched on the screen.

I am much in the same position, except that I am looking more at the 30GB range, because I have no need for anything close to 60+GB.

IMO the Cowon A2 is the best PMP on the market. Supports alot of codecs and has a brilliant screen. The extra features like recording dont hurt either.
