Don't know if this is the right forum for this, sorry if it isn't.

OK, so I have my power adaptor, brick thing. The cable is really thick and a bit cumbersome to carry around. I presume its of the A/C variety and has the three triangle style connectors (am I making sense here)?

Now can I swap the bit that connects from the brick to my mains to something a bit less chunky (i.e. using another cable) or is that a massive no no.

Does any of the above make sense or am I talking jibberish.

    Thanks

As long as you don't use a different brick, you should be ok. The reason that they use the thick cables is that thicker cables handle higher amperages better, without getting as hot. But they typically err on the side of caution. The only thing to do is figure out how hot the brick and cable get now under long term, full load of the laptop (playing a game), and then see if it changes once you replace the cable. You mostly just don't want to start a fire.
