Do they make sort of thin sleeves for the laptop to go into to protect against mainly stratches. The carrying bag is way to big. I wanted to be able to put my laptop in my backpack with my folders and books for school and just carry it aorund that way. Just something to protect the outsides of it from scratches it might get inside my backpack.

You could get a laptop backpack. A laptop backpack has a seperate spot for your laptop and books. You wouldn't need to worry about scatches then.

yeah here are plenty, both protective for just scratches as somewhat protective for putting in your backpack and preventing form crushing. Case logic, for example makes a simple neoprene sleeve while booq bags makes a full semi rigid sleeve.
edit: check out the sticky of bag companies
edit: sticky doesn't exist, here's the link

Sticky does exist ;-)
www.case-pc.com makes decent ones, a few people on the forum have it. -
I received my Fellowes neoprene sleeve the other day, and so far its doing great. I haven't used it much yet though, so I haven't had any "close encounters" to prove its worthyness. Very nicely stitched, just big enough but not excessively floppy (though my R50 tends to slide in and out a tad too easily), skillfully done out of wetsuit neoprene. Check that out if you haven't already ordered one. You can get them from Amazon in the used section (but they are actually new, just sold as used) for about 13 or 14 bucks w/S+H.

PS--The only problem w/ neoprene is that it is not rigid, (your notebook could be crushed if you slam your bag against something).
