I've narrowed down my choices to two, the copperhead and the new diamondback. Are there any major differences between them?

Yes, I did. I tried a G5, copperhead for a very short time, and a deathadder, also for a very short time. Only the copperhead felt natural to me. The lachesis is most definitely overkill for my m1330 ><
How does the 3g sensor compare to the laser on the copperhead?

I had a Diamondback for a year and then I upgraded to the Copperhead which I have been using for over a year now.

Here's what I like about the Copperhead over the Diamondback:
-No more shiny material in the palm area
    -Better-placed side buttons
    -Better scroll wheel
-Pulsing logo in palm rest area

For me the Copperhead was a pleasing upgrade over the Diamondback. You can't go wrong with either in my opinion but I'd recommend the Copperhead.

As noted have you considered the DeathAdder? Extremely good ratings - I haven't tried it myself but if I was looking for a gaming mouse it would be on my list.

The deathadder sounds amazing, but it doesn't fit my hand well. I find it too bulky ><

    So definitely copperhead?

Either will be an awesome investment. I used a Diamondback from when they released them until about a year and a half ago; the mouse5 button stopped reading... trashed. Picked up a copperhead and loved it instantly. The buttons are in a bit of a different spot and once I got used to it, it just feels more natrual.

I'll probably be getting a Lachesis (sp?) this winter; mmmm 4000dpi. In that case, my mx518 will go back to backpack beater duty and the Copperhead will be on server-watch :D

I'd go copperhead... don't let the 'no more shiny material in the palm area' fool you, though... It wears into a glossy shine after a year or two :p

I've got a diamondback 3g and its great, + I ordered the one that DOESN'T have the gloss all over the main body so it looks even better ;)

    diamondback is my choice

Deathadder which i am using tops the benchmarking charts by esreality .....

lachesis seems awesome...it has more buttons...more DPI ...but i think Deathadder is the best buy currently
