hi. i bought my wife the dell mini and i've got an asus mini and the keyboard is definitely tough for me: too small :( and so i wonder if you guys might have a recommendation for a small and portable keyboard?

since i take the mini when i'm on the move, i'm not thinking of a full size keyboard. something small but a tad bigger than the mini's keyboard.

i've never tried the plastic, waterproof, rollable keyboard; is that any good?

    something else?

thanks for any suggestions you might have!

This is why I would make sure to get a unit with a usable keyboard. The Dell Mini & Acer Aspire 1 have too small of a keyboard to type with.

Some people thing its worth it to save maybe 1" of space vs the Asus 1000H or Samsung NC10 but its not. Those two units have keyboards large enough to type on easy. Now adding the cost and extra bulk of a external keyboard really voids the main advantage and point of a netbook.

Awesome! Let us know how it is working out for you, too, once you receive it. I'm actually pondering this keyboard also..as its a great portable, and would be a nice addt'n for my Netbook! :D

Check out the Apple Bluetooth keyboard. It's sleek, REALLY thin, and pretty light. The battery life is also really good on it. Whatever keyboard you end up getting, be sure to tell us what it is and how it's working for you!

Here's a nice review about the Atek keyboard:
    http://www.gottabemobile.com/2008/12/20/gbm-shortcut-atek-onboard-travel-keyboard/
As you can see, it's a big fat keyboard.

If you really want a super small keyboard with which you can still touch type, then you will have to leave the QWERTY route and learn a new layout.

The keyboard I use 99% of the time is the FrogPad
I also posted a small review about both the Bluetooth and the USB version on TabletPCReview:
    Bluetooth FrogPad Keyboard Review
    USB FrogPad review

It is expensive, it uses a different keyboard layout, it's a one handed keyboard, I know, it's completely different, but maybe you like it.
I like it :D and use it daily, and only use a QWERTY keyboard to play games.

it's been months since you posted this but i've come to the general conclusion that you're right. i still like my mini a lot but the keyboard is too small for my hands and having a small external keyboard works but isn't ideal. keep in mind that this is before the 10 inch asus came out:
    http://www.amazon.com/10-Inch-Netbo...uetooth/dp/B001QTXL82/ref=dp_cp_ob_pc_title_0

while not ideal, it's been good to have the mini with me when i'm on the road; yes, i've had to pack a small external keyboard but the light weight of the mini is very easy on the shoulders.
