    hey,

i own a fujitsu s7010d and i love it! best investment i could make being a new college student. but now i am having trouble figuring out how to protect my investment at the same time. i'm talking about being able to take it around from class to class.

i have seen all sorts of different kinds of sleeves for laptops, and i am thinking about purchasing one from booqbags.com. but what i am hearing from other people is that they are having problems with their laptops compressing when there is weight on either side. and when i have lots of books to carry....that is a bad problem. i am very aware also that since i first bought my laptop and this is the case with other laptops too, there is a little bit of flex in the screen with the rest of the laptop when it is closed. i have even seen people's screens that have little outlines of the keyboard on it. I DON'T WANT THAT!!!

so my question is..... how do you guys manage having a mobile pc while protecting it too? i am pretty sure that the sleeve isn't the answer to the screen touching the keypad. i was thinking that maybe if there was some kind of thin protector to slide in before i close my laptop that might work. but then that would have to be something that was safe on the screen too. so basically i just want to know what you guys think and if there is anything available or any steps i can take to protect my laptop.

    thanx!!!

I am not sure that you would find any sleeve that is tough enough to prevent your notebook from being compressed a bit when there are loads of books around it. Booq are great, I have the PowerSleeve, it is quite thick, but I cannot imagine it protecting from heavy compression!

You might also want to check out sumdex ... here is a review: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=11614

As for the screen compressing on the keyboard. Usually that is an issue with laptops that don't have those rubber spacers on the edge of the screen. I believe the S7000 does have them. But if you want to be extra protective you can place a thin microfiber cloth between the screen and keyboard (you can also use this cloth to clean your screen). Some decent ones could be found at www.radtech.us

In my opinion www.tombihn.com sells the only backpack and sleeve protection system that really offers substancial protection. They also do messenger bags, and they sell little cloths to put over your keyboard so you don't get key impressions on your screen.

that shaggymac looks good to though, it covers the whole screen area. I might just order one.

http://www.shaggymac.com/ is by far the best screen protector I have used thus far! It even removed some markings that I thought were permanent.

I just ordered a black ShaggyMac as well~! What color did you get Coriolis? and what size? I did a custom for my Z70Va @ 13.5 width and 9.5 depth, so it basically covers the whole surface of the keyboard and palm area, of course leaving room for the latches to close, incase anybody was thinking, "...this moron measured wrong..." :D

Try dropping by your local fabric store, and ask for microfiber cloth. They sell it by the yards, and its still cheaper.
