    sleep mode in case?

    this may be a really dumb question but im going to ask anyway because i just got my first laptop. if it is in sleep or hibernate can it be put into my case to go between classes or whatnot? the fans turn off and it seems ok but i figured id ask. please dont laugh at me for asking this lol.

    Yes. I would hibernate it if you'll be moving it for longer distances. Sleep is maybe OK for short (careful) jaunts.

    Here's some more information on Hibernate and Standby:

    So to answer your question:
    If you put your computer in its case when it's on hibernate there will be no problem at all. Since the computer is not powered.
    You can put it in your case when it's on standby but remember that it is still powered. So you shouldn't leave it in there for too long.
    Also I've heard of programs that make the computer wake from standby (I'm not sure how true this is). But if it is true than you run the risk that your computer might wake without you knowing about it.

    Sometimes depending on your wireless (set in power mgr) it will wake up if a signal is detected/dropped.

    Also you have to remember about heat. Even thought it is not running full power there is still heat being generated (stand by) while in the case. It can get pretty hot if you leave it there too long.
