I will be carrying my dell700m in a messenger bag that I use for school. Should I get a hard-case to put it in? Or will a neoprene sleeve do the trick? I will have books and notebooks in my bag, so I don't want it to get crushed etc.

I saw the Shinza and ive heard good things on this forum about it, the Sumdex appeals to me because it has handles.

    Your guys' thoughts?

Both will work fine, but I'd rather have a softer case then a hard shelled one, as it will conform to the laptop in the bag and it won't move around.

I'm sure it won't get crushed, perhaps placing the laptop at the front would give it more room.

I prefer using a sleeve. IMO Sumdex sleeves are very nice. I used one with my Toughbook W2 and now use one with my Fujitsu. I purchased both through eBags.com

I love my Zeroshock. When I read neroprene I didn't expect much, but I bit the bullet and got it anyway. And dang, it's pretty nice. Looks a lot better in person and the material is really firm. Almost as hard as thick cardboard with ability to compress and decompress. It's not your As Seen On TV! TemperPedic material that's for sure. I will admit though, sometimes I wish it had an optional handle. But the way it is, it's feels like holding a textbook or heavy binder. It's not bad at all. I have a ultra thin messenger bag, but I hardly use it because it's usually quicker and easier to just hold the laptop by itself. And when I put it on the table or walk around, it doesn't scream "laptop" or "please steal me" like a laptop bag often does.

on the shinza site it says it does not stretch anymore because they made it stronger. does anyone know if the 700m w/o ext battery will fit? or if theyve tested it with the ext battery does it fit?

I was also looking at the ZeroShock.

I measured my 700m with the extended battery and it is less than 9.45in (the depth given on the Shinza website.) So it seems like it will fit.

The price listed is about $30, anyone know where I could get one for less?

The ZeroShock isnt on ebags.com. The only place I've found it is on the shinza website.
