hey all, i have a toshiba m35, and ive been dying to get my hands on some speakers. 2.1, or 5.1 it doesn't really matter for me since i'm a college student.. i'd prefer a 2.1 due to the size of my room heh, but i've been having a hard time deciding what is good and hwat isn't. i'm not familiar at all with what is good and what isn't hahaha... oh and also will these speakers work on my laptop? ie. soundcard compatibility or something like that? any input would be great!

    much appreciated

Hey, Monsoon Audio produces a killer pair of 2.1 *flat panel* speakers that produce terrifically clean and crisp sound.

Hi, im also a uni student, 2.1 for me is just not powerfull enough, i do like watching my TV (with my external TV card) and movies on it so i bought a Toshiba Multimedia Center Audio that enables you to have 5.1 Surround systems! and it looks cool, people cant believe they are lisening to music on a laptop!

I've got a 2.1 set of Klipsch speakers that effin' pound. I love them. Also, the support was excellent. I had a speaker that I broke just outside of the warrenty. Mind you, it wasn't a part failure, but I accidentally pushed the subwoofer too far against the wall and screwed up one of the plugs. I called to have it repaired and they just straight sent me a whole new speaker. It was on the porch 2 days later. Didn't even ask for the old one back.

    Klipsch, baby ;-)

Yeah, Coriolis is right about that. Those Logitechs can be pretty nice for a good price as well.

Try the JBL Creatures, on sale right now at compusa for 79.99, I just bought them and they have a great sound for such a small footprint
