Since most laptops these days don't have legacy ports like a parallel port used by older printers, I had to get one to connect my HP895cxi.

I bought one from tigerdirect.com for $10. Pretty cheap.

Got it in a couple of days. Works like a charm. Didn't have to use the driver CD that came with it. XP has the driver already.

I also got a usb to serial adapter specific to my palm pda from craytonelectronics.com.

It also worked flawlessly with my new dv4000 laptop.

Just thought I'd pass this on.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the note. Printers have a way os lasting a very long time, so a $10 cable is better than a new printer!
