is there a way to connect a console to a laptop to use the screen of it as a tv?

iv seen loads of tv tuners, usb and pci ones, but would if have to have a 3 pin or scart input? cos i cant find any like that?

i was directed to one but it was only available in the us and im in the uk.

    any ideas?

According to what I've heard, you can do it but it lags pretty badly - not a problem for an actual TV signal, but for anything interactive like a game console it doesn't cut it.

The recommendation I recall the last person asking this got was to pick up a cheapo television off ebay...

Yea, You can pick TV's open preally cheap if you really need one. Like go to garage sales, fle-markets, look in the flyer stuff like that, yo can get one for well under $50... last month I got one for $10 that works fine, used it in my garage.

An Adaptec Gamebridge is what you're looking for.

I have an ATI USB 2.0 TV tuner, and it works well for some games. I played splinter cell on my computer screen just as well as I could on my 27" TV. Halo or racing games, things that are fast paced lagged a bit. Now, some of the newer TV Tuners, and with better and faster processors, can run this just fine. I tested this originally on a P-M 1.5Ghz (first wave) processor. I would be that if you are on a newer Dual Core, this would work acceptably.

i thought the gamebridge is basically a USB 2.0 tv tuner??

it connects to your laptop via USB if im not mistaken

i'm also interested in using my laptop screen to play video games on

is the difference between the gamebridge and a normal TV tuner just that the gamebridge eliminates the lag becuase of its design?

also would you be able to play like ps3 or xbox 360 in HD using the gamebridge or some other Tv-tuner like device

It is just a USB Device, and it works pretty well, it's no super high definition quality but for $30 bucks, you can't go wrong.

It has S-Video and Composite input, so I'm assuming it will work for any console which has those.

I'm probably gonna write a review on it, once I get off my lazy arse ;)

Good, more informed people than myself have responded.

Cori, where do you get a gamebridge for 30 bucks? I'm only seeing $60 to $70 online...

The one I have is the 1400 which is just console, the 1410 is the TV Tuner + console, which may be the one you are looking at.

As for where, I bought mines at a local computer shop.

Would the 1410 make a decent TV tuner on its own without the console feature?

I haven't tried it so I can't say, but the console is quite decent enough.

I'll see if I can get a review going soon.
