i have been seeing this come into my shop and reading a ton about it lately online and i have been suggesting a fix and it works for those that have this specific issue..
if you have used any microsoft wireless mice that installed as a hid mousethis may be for you. this generally pretains to wireless products but ive seen it from a few wired mice.
the computer will no longer sleep or go into screen saver or hibernate mode it will simply sit there on the windows screen.
ms released quite some time ago a fix for hid products and it needs to now be installed. this usually will some via update but ive seen a lot of people lately who did not receive the update or for those who do not do auto updates.
ms says this is from strictly a wireless pointing device but as i said ive seen a couple of cases from a wired version im not sure why but this same fix solves that issue.

Yeah, I think this was mentioned before… but no harm in reminding
. In fact I too had the same problem with my previous MS Laser 6000 notebook mouse.

yeah this just fixed another no sleep issue in the sager forum as well this issue sucks and should be auto prevented by ms..
