I just use screen cleaner for the display and rubbing alcohol on a paper towel for the keyboard and the rest of the laptop.

I never spray anything directly on to screen. For Glossy or Matte I start with dry micro-fiber cloth (dry) for screen, if any sutbborn stains I use very little screen cleaner on the cloth. Matte screens are generally less forgiving so use I use very little pressure.
I recently starting using white distilled vinegar to clean all plastic areas except KB; for that I do as Kurio !

I just use a damp paper towel for everything. Dry off the plastic and screen with another paper towel. Then I use a micro/terry cloth to get rid of any streaks or whatever is left on the screen.

Those aren't good, basic household paper towels or toilet paper may have sand or other residue and you'll end with a scratched screen.

I use same methods as I clean my glasses with. Mostly microfiber cloth at home. At work I have some cleaning/spray foam for client computers. Some of them are really nasty and I won't work on them before I've cleaned them... yuck.

I use dilute liquid hand soap sprayed onto lint-free cloth (not on the screen).

For cleaning the screen - I always just use a microfiber cloth and my own warm breath on the screen to clean, and wipe in a circular motion.
Keyboard - When needed I make sure the laptop is turned off and use a qtip to get at "inbetween" the keys.

A couple of years ago I bought few Microfiber Laptop Screen Protectors from ShaggyMac to help protect my laptop screen/keyboard and surprisingly to this day they work extremely well. I will use it to clean the screen (see above "warm breath) :) and clean up the keyboard. It also washes very well in the washer/dryer. (If you sign up for ShaggyMacs e-mails they will send you codes/discounts to use on their site) :)

Otherwise, for simple Microfiber cloths you can usually get those free from a local Eye Care Office. Or, Dollar Stores, Walmart etc. sell them for pretty cheap.

    Not using it

I just use a microfiber cloth and screen cleaner for the screen and base of my laptop when I think it needs it and I'm not feeling lazy, I only use rubbing alcohol if I want it 100% clean (usually once every 3 months if I had to guess). Not sharing your laptop can help quite a bit :)

On the subject of cloths I had so many repairs thru Sony in the last four years when their flagships turned into turd, that I have enough of their 'complimentary cleaning cloths' - that they send out with every job - to last me a lifetime.

Though if Apple sent me one for every repair, I'd have enough for probably until the end of the universe...
