    I'm in the same situation.

the Brain Bag backpack at www.tombihn.com looks like one of the best I've seen. The sleeves on the site look really well made and they fit inside the backpack perfectly, I like the monolith sleeve. Tom Bihn seems to be the only one who makes a really strong backpack that can carry tones of **** and still protect your notebook that is actually designed for this purpose and not hiking.

The Brain Bag costs $140 USD though which is insane. I'll probably end up getting it anyways.

Right now I use the Adventurer Day Pack from MEC. If your Canadian you know what i'm talking about. If your not check out < http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_...older_id=2534374302699713&bmUID=1126672857688 >. It costs only $39 CAN, which is insane on the oposite end of the price spectrum.

i would check out www.bumbakpaks.com. i think they might just be the next hot trend in laptop bags. they're not for everyone, but the concept seems solid.

If you are looking to get the best bag you possibly can and you want to be able to carry a lot of stuff in it, then I would suggest to you the Booq BP3. I just purchased one myself. I am in medical school so I take my laptop with me to school everyday. I also have a ton of books I lug around with me. This is a normal everyday load in my BP3: Acer Ferrari 4005 in Shinza Zeroshock sleeve, two 1" binders, at least two textbooks (usually together about 3" tall), and a couple of one subject notebooks. The main compartment can carry a stack of books up to 6" high. With all of this I also carry a 32 oz nalgene bottle in one of the side pockets, my AC adapter in the other side pocket, my ethernet cord, mouse, and wallet in the bottom front pocket, my headphones in the outermost removable pocket, and my iPod in one of the two pockets under the removable clip on pocket. Overall, that is a lot of stuff. This bag is also very comfortable to carry and wear. It is not overly strenuous on your shoulders because it has wide shoulder straps and it has very good padding in the back and on the bottom of the backpack.

I am planning on doing a full review soon with pictures and everything, so if anyone wants to see some pictures just PM me and let me know. If no one is interested than I am not going to spend the time reviewing it (got lots of studying to do you know). Anyway, good luck with you decision.

If you are a college student, don't get a laptop bag. Targus backpacks are close to the #1 theft item because its easy to tell that they prolly have a laptop in them. Same goes for VAIO, IBM, etc brand backpacks. Chose a generic bag company and get a sleeve for your laptop.

Exactly. Though I'm not a student, that's why I got the Victornix Oxford. Looks like an ordinary backpack. Well made too.

I would go with Crumpler....saw them in the little computer store here on campus at UCF (only the Skivvy though :( ) and they really don't look like a regular laptop bag. I think I finally dropped enough hints - aka showed it to her like 3 times - that my girlfriend is getting one as a "surprise" :)
