I know it records shows... but what other options can it do?

would it be possible to play a game on one half of the screen and watch tv on the other if i had a 32 inch tv?

Yes, it is possible. I have gamed and recoreded at the same time, but then again my laptop is a portable server replacement. I have dual tv tuners in my notebook. Both are avermedia M103 hybrid tv tuners.

From my experiences, ATI Tv Tuners were good about three years ago, and ever since have made extremely bad tv tuners.
I like my Avermedia, it is a great tv tuner. It utilizes either the PCI interface, or you can get the model which has the pci-express 1x interface. The card is about $150 but its the best dual tv tuner in the market.

Your 8800 will have more than enough power to play a game and watch two tv channels at the same time.
