well i want to buy a gaming controller. i dont want to buy online

i just bought the logitech cordless rumblepad 2, but it doesnt work that well. i need something that will work good with call of duty 4, assasians creed, cs source, grid etc.

i was wondering about buying a wired 360 controller, either the one that goes with the xbox or the one that is the microsoft certified one for pc.

if anyone has played call of duty 4 on the 360 or ps3, thats how id like to play in on the computer. (with the sprint button, toggle crouch, etc.)

is it even possible? i have the logitech as mentioned above. im using the programxpadder, but the movements arnt smooth at all.

    thanks.

The best plug & play PC controller almost without a doubt is the Xbox 360 controllers.

The wired one is indeed plug & play, the wireless one will require you to get the adapter (it may come with it if you get the "pc ready" version)

I would go for wired, no need to deal with batteries and it works with the 3rd party XBCD drivers that are much better than the Microsoft ones, but if you hate wires and do not mind spending more the wireless is just as good.

I actually have a brand new unopened wireless one with the pc adapter I was going to go sell it on ebay for like $50 and I saw that some of them are listed as cheap as $35 now... so with that I decided I will keep it.

If your a tech junkie like me, you may also like to use the wiimote. I prefer the wiimote to the 360 controller, but its not plug and play (yet) you have to use a few programs to get it to work.

I too recommend the Xbox 360 wired controller. Works like a charm.

This 360-like model from Logitech also looks interesting.

    It lacks rumble, though.

Just go with the real deal the 360 controllers are very well made, and you can find them pretty cheap since its that whole supply vs demand thing. Plus its back by microsoft so you know its very compatible with everything.

I do hope they make there drivers customizable one day like the XBCD drivers allow you do to for it, like reverse the axis or change there properties. Just because some games dont allow you to change those things in the game options.

Pinnacle Game Profiler would be another work around for that since XBCD is no longer supported.

You have the adapter right? lol

the wireless one only works on the PC with the adapter as its not bluetooth like the Wiimote.

I would have got it on ebay man for like $30
    http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Xbox-360-PC-Wireless-Microsoft-Controller-Receiver_W0QQitemZ280274545498QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item280274545498&_trkparms=72%3A1205|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I think they are so cheap because many people like me got them for free via clue live search and dont have a real use for them.

When I saw it was selling so cheap I decided to keep mine but still have not opened it since I use my wiimote mostly and already have the wired one open.

that's the logitech rumble pad 2 which he stated doesn't work well for him.

I haven't had any problems with it personally but I do agree with the 360 controller. Those kick @$$.
