i'm getting so bored this friday nite. dont know what to do so i might probably ask this silly question.

i have this thinkpad x40 and i'm planning to get a new set of speakers. what do you guys reckon? i like altec but it costs heaps. my budget is around $50 or i can perhaps stretch that limit a lil bit. i dont like bulky speakers that sound terrible, occupy alot of space, and dont even match the laptop itself look-wise.

    thank you.

Yeah, I'd like to know as well, I'm taking my NB abroad for a semester but I'm not about to lug my 40 pound amp, and 4 floor standing speakers with me. I need something cheap and ****py but that will allow me to stray from my NB speakers in my new dorm room. I have an old 4.1 computer speaker set up but i don't want to lug the sub with me, I picked it up for 50 bucks 4 years ago, so hopefully i can get something similar for cheaper, as they will not be returning with me.

wow... that klipsch promedia ultra 2.0 personal audio system looks pretty cool. but set of speakers for $99.99 :( too bad. i dont understand this line here (1st paragraph) in their web site:

"it was created for consumers who want superior, full-range sound quality but do not want to give up the space or run the wire required for a subwoofer."

it doesnt come with sub does it. where is the sub? if there is one then it certainly needs wire to connect to it doesnt it.

anyway it looks like ibm speakers.

No, there's no sub. I think one of the woofers acts like a subwoofer. I could be wrong.
