I am looking for a monitor to hook up to my Lenovo T500 via DisplayPort. So far I have identified two choices from Asus that may fall in my price range, but I am open to other brands etc as well. From Asus the PA238QR and VE258Q look interesting. Potential advantages of each model are:
VE258Q: larger display, faster response time
PA238QR: better viewing angles, IPS LED backlit, USB ports, more adjustments possible
Please let me know what you think.

You didn't mention the price range. I'd recommend the Dell U2212HM (1080) or the U2412M (1200) as I've found them decent and they are cheap.

Thanks, price range low 200s is a bit below the U2412M. Both seem to have relatively slow response time - is that and important factor for watching videos?

I just ordered the VS247H-P model as it was for sale on Newegg for $159.99 This was my first external monitor purchase but I love it thus far and actually found a used one on Craigslist in my area that I'm going to pick-up as well. I think it may be sold out still but other stores have them.
I recommend this model. -
