I'm looking for a new keyboard/mouse combo. It is to replace a Logitech cordless desktop laser LX710 (in which the "Escape" key crapped out on me which is a disaster for a frequent terminal user).

I'll consider both cable-bound and cordless combos. A laser mouse is a must. I mostly care about a high-quality design. I don't need--actually I don't want--any "gaming" features (i.e., nothing too flashy/no extra buttons for gamers on mouse or keyboard). Budget is ~$100

Not sure if I want another Logitech given the last combo didn't last too long.

    Thoughts?

thanks, this looks really interesting. actually, i might keep the mouse (i didn't even think of that--duh)

i've been reading reviews of mechanical keyboards over the last hour or so. something curious: the keyboards i looked up on newegg (ABS M1, steelseries 7G) are all advertised as gaming keyboards. (i realize, though, that these are suitable for people that type a lot, too.)

i'll head over to a store now for testing (a DAS keyboard)

    :D

I am thinking about picking up something with Cherry MX Blue switches myself. Possibly something cheap-ish like the Scorpius M10.

The links provided in that thread above also have some explanation with regards to which types of switches are better for certain purposes ie. typing, gaming.

I have a glass desk so I went with the Logitech Anywhere MX mouse and the the Logitech K340.

Both use the same nano receiver and the K340 lasts forever on 2 AAs.
