i have two laptops, two mice, and zero mousepads. i plan to get two of them for gaming purposes.

    1) which mousepad should i get for my copperhead?
    2) which mousepad should i get for my diamondback?

i was considering the white icemat for both of them, but am willing to other ideas. post away!

Just curious here, but why exactly do you want to get mousepads?

I've been using my mouse without a mousepad for over 4 years now. Are there advantages to using a mousepad?

Yes there are...many knowledgeable & rational people ignore mousepads...but when you are moving mouse at high speeds (like me) the base gets severely scratched...the mouse surface becomes uneven like the sole of your shoes...
your mouse gets spoilt...unless u have a cheap non-gaming mouse.

Morever mouse mat improves tracking & it gives you perfect friction

the lens also accumulates lot of dust

Conclusion: Use mouse mat/pad if you love your mouse

Interestng. I always had a bad experience with my laser mouse and a mousepad, but that was over 4 years ago. I found that they worked better when I just used the surface of my desk instead of a mousepad.

I'd also recommend the eXactmat or the Mantis; I don't have either personally but if I had to get one it would be the eXactmat. It's basically a sheet of aluminum with two differenct surfaces; smooth on one side and textured on the other. Both mousepads are huge so make sure you have the desk space.

Personally I use a fUnc Industries Surface 1030. See here:
    http://www.func.net/products/1030/index.html
They make a bunch of different mousepads.
