I'll be shortly getting rid of my SonySZ in favor of a new thinkpad. The sony comes with a built in webcam that I use frequently when I travel to chat with my family. (My young children really appreciate being able to 'see' me as well as hear me when I'm out of town.) So, I need to buy a webcam that is compact for travelling use with a notebook.
The upside to this is that I don't think it'd be possible to get a webcam video quality as low as the sony built in one (which seems to be 320x240@15fps when used with MS messenger.)
The disadvantage is that it'll become an "extra" thing I'll have to pull out and attach - so I'd like to make that aspect as painless as possible.
Small/compact - good quality (both video quality and durable enough to survive my notebook case on an airplane) and discrete (so I could attach it on occasion while I'm actually working.) Oh- it has to have WinVista drivers...
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Gary

How about the Microsoft Lifecam NX-6000? Its small and light, and simple to use and connect.
The video quality is really good too. 2.0 megapixel video camera, 7.6 megapixel still pictures. The price isn't too bad either, about $80 US.
