i want to hook a projector up to my desktop pc so i can use that as a screen and watch movies/TV through it. I have not built my desktop pc yet so if there is any important parts i should get besides nice video card and TV tuner let me know. Here are my options. (i do not have HD tv i just have regular cable)

Hmm, there was a $700 Acer 720p projector last month that doesn't show up anymore. You might be able to find it elsewhere.

The wall is ok. You can adjust the projector brightness to compensate.

I wouldn't advice you to use a projector for this since the cost of maintaining one is expensive(e.g. bulbs, power consumption, etc.) Why don't you get a respectable LCD TV with this you can save money in the long run, though initially it is quiet expensive but the quality(video) and durability is worth it.

I have a 37" HD LCD and its pretty big :p but I still want a projector too so I get where the OP is coming from. They have dropped in price by a HUGE amount over the last few years but still are not worth it unless you find some insane deal.

I would definitely not get a 720p projector even my 37" @ full 1080p is just what I consider acceptable, if I double the screen size it would definitely need the higher resolution to make me happy.

I think this video only made me want to do it worse:
